The 1st of December is a special day in the history of independent Kazakhstan. On the first day of the winter of 1991, the first nationwide presidential elections were held.

On December 10, 2011, the Senate of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan adopted the law “On Amendments to the Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan“ On Holidays in the Republic of Kazakhstan ”. In accordance with the document, December 1 was declared the Day of the First President. Thus, this holiday is celebrated in the country since 2012.

The day of the first president of Kazakhstan was established to celebrate and recognize the merits of the first president of Kazakhstan, Nursultan Nazarbayev, to the Republic.

On November 27 and 28, for students in grade 6 of gymnasium  1 and grade 9-10, gymnasium 38 together with the Saryzhailau cinema held a video lesson «Our President!». The following were presented to the attention of the children: the electronic exhibition «First», consisting of three sections: «The leader’s biography is the country’s biography»; «Person. Personality. The president»; «In the stream of history», where materials were presented about the life and activities of N. Nazarbayev, his works. With great attention, the children watched the documentary «Model Nazarbayev» (Teleradiocomplex of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan), and also took an active part in the quiz «President of my country» where students could show their knowledge about the leader of the nation as a person and leader of the country.

For correct and complete answers to the quiz questions, players received gifts presented by the administration of the Saryzhaylau cinema.
