Alimzhanov Bayangali Tokanovich

Alimzhanov Bayangali Tokanovich was born on October 16th , 1954 in Stepnyak, Akmola region.
He is a poet, playwright, writer, poet of aitys, zhyrshy-zhyrau, manaschi, film director, screenwriter, actor, researcher of literature and art, cultural worker, critic, satirist, documentary filmmaker, TV presenter, member of the Writers’ Union of Kazakhstan.
In his work, B. Alimzhanov pays great attention to children, creating the best works for them: stories, stories, poems, tongue twisters.
In 1971 B. Alimzhanov graduated from the secondary school named after Abai in Stepnyak, in 1977 graduated the Kazakh philological faculty of KazSU. Until 1987 he lived in Almaty.
He worked as a researcher in the house-museum of Sabit Mukanov, a correspondent for the newspapers Leninshil Zhas, Kitap Zharshysy, Kazak Adebieti, editor of the documentary films and chronicles department of the Kazakhfilm studio, editor of prose and criticism departments in the magazines Baldyrgan, Zhuldyz “.
From 1987 to 1997 Bayangali Alimzhanov returns to his native village, worked as his own correspondent for the regional newspaper “Kokshetauskaya Pravda” in the Enbekshildersky, Ualikhanovsk, Shchuchinsk districts, as a poet of the Enbekshildersky regional department of culture.
In 1998 he moved to the city of Kokshetau, until 2001 he worked as a stage master in the regional Kazakh musical and drama theater named after Sh. Khusainov.
From 2006 to 2013 – he was a director and Artistic Director of Pan Nurmagambet Film Studio. Since 2011 he has been living in the city of Nur-Sultan.
He is an author of thirty-seven books and four feature films, six documentaries. From 1984 to 2005 B. Alimzhanov performed at aitys 216 times, twenty-two times won the Grand Prix in the republican aitys of akyns.
He twice won the Grand Prix at the republican competitions of zhyrshy storytellers. He was a prize-winner of the International competition of manaschi – storytellers of the Kyrgyz epic “Manas”, dedicated to the millennium of the great epic (1995 Kyrgyzstan, Bishkek).
B. Alimzhanov’s poems for children have been published as a separate book entitled Adventures at the Christmas Tree (2015), Meyirimdi Askar (2018), Olen-Alippe (2021).
In 2015, a twelve-volume collection of works by B. Alimzhanov was published in Kazakhstan. B. Alimzhanov is the author of over thirty books and dozens of collective collections. His poems were published in a separate book “Auyldyn ak samaly” (2003), “Anyz ben aspan” (2010), “Kiyanatka karsylyk” in three volumes (2014), “Dariga Kyz” (2014), “Degen eken …” (2016), “The Tale of the Centennial Steppe” (2019), etc.
He is an author of over twenty plays, many small stage works. B. Alimzhanov’s works have been translated into Russian, English, Spanish, French, Arabic, Chinese, German, Japanese, Turkish, Tatar, Bashkir, Udmurt, Uzbek, Mongolian, Uyghur, Karakalpak and Kyrgyz languages.
In 2006 Bayangali Alimzhanov was awarded the honorary title of Honored Worker of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Laureate of the A. Maldybaev International Prize of the Union of Composers and the Ministry of Culture of Kyrgyzstan, the Sayakbai Manasshi medal established by the S. Karalayev International Foundation, was awarded the title of Manaschi of the Turkic World by the International Turkic Academy (2019). He is also the Winner of the medals of the Assembly of the Peoples of Kazakhstan “Meyirim” (2020), “Khalyk algys” (2020), the Order of “Dostuk” of the Kyrgyz Republic (2021).
