How good it is to be able to read …

Caring and wise parents, teachers and psychologists constantly ask themselves the question: “How to raise and bring up a happy, successful, physically and morally healthy child?”

The search for an answer to this question often leads us to an analysis of various theories of education and training in order to take into account all the pros and cons of one method or another. At the same time, we forget that wise mankind has been looking for answers to such questions for thousands of years, not only seeking, but also finding. Finds and transfers from generation to generation through a fairy tale, legend, parable. The history of the development of man and mankind is encrypted in a fairy tale.

In the age of computers and high technologies, a person cannot do without reading. It is not enough for a modern child to just read a fairy tale, talk about the characters and the plot. With a child of the third millennium, it is necessary to comprehend fairy tales, together to search and find hidden meanings and life lessons.

To get your child to read, the following rules must be observed:

  1. Start reading to your child when he is not yet able to speak. And when he begins to read himself, keep the ritual “reading after dinner” or “at night.” Read aloud to your child, by role, in turn – to mutual pleasure.
  2. Start reading with brightly illustrated books with little text.
  3. Invite the child to come up with the end of a fairy tale or story himself: “And if …”.
  4. After reading the tale, offer to make a craft, drawing, applique according to the content of the book.
  5. Make reading a family tradition. For example, a weekend evening.
  6. Never start an activity if you or your child is in a bad mood: such activities will not be successful.
  7. Use the psychological principle of “unfinished action”: while reading aloud, stop at the most interesting place (ah, sorry, I have to leave, we stopped here) and leave the child alone with the book. And after a while ask: “Well, tell me what happened next, I’m very interested in it!”
  8. Don’t compare your child’s progress to that of other children. The pace of mastering reading skills is individual for each child.
  9. Do not forget about your personal example, read yourself “to yourself.” The child should see that you like it. Sometimes this is how the desire also arises to know this pleasure.

Educating a little reader is a painstaking business that requires time and patience, but the result will meet your expectations !!!
